This book definitely gives you a 30,000 foot overview of what is important to know and to do (emphasis on both) to increase considerably your chance of success in business.That said, there is no way it will take only an hour: there is a lot you will need to think about. Then you will have to educate yourself further, and that will take time, money, and effort, though not necessarily a lot of money: there are many good books around, as well as good web resources.
All-in-all, a very good place to start, but it's no more than an excellent set of pointers.
Worth it? Every cent.

The title of this review says it all. John has succeeded in the simplest, most straight forward way in communicating all the skills necessary to succeed in business without the enormous time and expense of getting an MBA. For those of us who have been successful (no point in false humility), we will have practiced nearly every single thing that John recommends. I do agree with him that if you can manage to get accepted to a Harvard or a Stanford MBA program, you should go. The reason is very simple (and contained in the book)-networking. You will make contacts with other students (and even faculty) who will help you in any endeavor in which you indulge after you graduate. Otherwise, it can be a big waste of time and money. All MBA programs are NOT created equal.
Whether underemployed or new grad or ambitious person who's career-stalled, THIS BOOK IS TOPS! Why? 1). It's credible The author is obviously a powerful person and communicator. He spoke to me as a wise, successful and caring mentor. His credibility shines- he knows what he's talking about. 2). It's practical MBA-type skills are imperative to an innovation and knowledge powered world. 3). It's always about Time and Money your time & our times and your salary & and pay trends in our times. It's indisputable that higher education matters. But competition, for the jobs you want and need to progress is, by definition, relentless. You need skills now! What you'll find here are invaluable tips and tools. This book provides a great framework for success. It is certainly the best in this genre, in my judgement. This is a simple, easy to read book but full of down to earth advice even if you are not directly involved in sales or management.
The author, an expert in financial affairs, gives inside hints on how to be efficient and optimise time in any work one does. Obviously since he has a financial background the advice initially revolves around that dishomogeneous, wide area of work force. However as one goes along reading the book his advice encompasses how to deal with not only clients/customers but also our everyday layman dealings.
Not much of a fan of multitasking, the author stresses in various parts of the book the importance of having clear what one wants to accomplish, when, where and by which deadline. Then starting with the most difficult task, concentrate solely on it and then, only when finished, pass on to the next.
I have to say I do agree with most of what he says. Having to deal with clients on daily basis, I share most of his advices learnt slowly as my work experience progressed.

Quick read, was expecting more. If there is a Second Hour MBA it should describe scenarios how best to answer questions with superiors. The Lean In version.
Fantastic book! Information can be used for all careers to enhance the individuals job performance and to make the work place a more productive and happier environment. A must read!!!
A smart little book, nothing is covered in deepth, but delivers several tips and tricks. Can be recomended for summer reading.
This book provides down to earth advice on understanding the value of an MBA. Clearly comparing the cost benifit (if any) of time required and the payback of this investment.
